2013 - Curvaceous Crabs Cavort at America's Greatest Family Resort
Miss Crustacean Has Been Entertaining the Nation and Universe For Forty Years at Ocean City. Pageant will “stay put,” says NASCRAB
OCEAN CITY, N.J. --- For 40 years The Miss Crustacean Hermit Crab Beauty Pageant has attracted hundreds of curvaceous crustaceans and their best friends to the 6th St. Beach in Ocean City. NASCRAB, its sponsoring organization, has never considered relocating to another venue.
“We would never move the Pageant to Las Vegas or any other location,” said Mark Soifer, founder of the pageant and chairman of NASCRAB, the National Association of Crab Activities at the Beach, a powerful, international organization that runs the event. “Don’t believe the rumors you’ve been hearing. We will stay put. Ocean City has the perfect family atmosphere for our family extravaganza. We know where we belong.”

Boardwalk Art Show to be Held August 2,3 & 4
Ocean City--The 51st Boardwalk Art Show, hosted by the Ocean City Arts Center, will be held August 2, 3, & 4 from 10 am to 8 pm, Friday and Saturday, and 10 am to 6 pm on Sunday. Applications for artists will be accepted through July 26.
More than 50 artists will display watercolor, oil, acrylics, original drawings, photograhs and hand-pulled pieces. Awards include Purchase Award where the Center buys a piece; a $500 Best of Show Award; $350 Second Place; $250 Third Place; $200 Mayor's Choice Award for an Ocean City Themed piece; and Three Honorable Mentions at $100 each. Prize money was increased in 2013.

Winners Ocean City Freckle Contest
The City’ Annual Freckle Contest attracted over 70 contestants who competed for spotted glory in front of the Music Pier, July 11 at 6 p.m.
The good natured competition feature categories from 5 and under to Adults most of whom seemed to have a good time admiring each other’s freckles.

OCNJ C.A.R.E. Benefit
Ocean City, NJ- Magical Mondays are held at Gillian’s Wonderland Pier on 6th street and the boardwalk in Ocean City. With the purchase of a $20 wristband on a Magical Monday guests can go on unlimited rides between the hours of 1-4pm. Proceeds from wristband purchases on Monday, July 15th will benefit OCNJ C.A.R.E. which is continuing to support Ocean City families and businesses affected by super storm Sandy.

2013 Winners OC Sand Sculpting Contest, July 3rd at 6th Street Beach
Seventy contestants participated in the City’s first Sand Sculpting Contest of the season which included a group from the Upper Township K.E.Y.S. Day Camp.
Family Division Winners: lst. Place, the Jones Family from Ambler, Pa. who sculpted an Independence Day Castle; 2nd. Place, the Herwig Family, Princenton, N.J., King’s Castle; 3rd Place: the Stafford Family of Woodbury, Snoopy on a Dog House.
Family Division Honorable Mentions included Adams Family, Shamokin Dam Pa., Loch Ness Monster; The Bay House Family, Harleysville, Pa., Ski Ball Machine; The Cook Family of Erie Pa., Volkswagon; the Kerfoot Family of Bloomsbury, N.J., a Sea Horse.

Summer Inn-to-Inn & Historic Tour
Ocean City, NJ- The Inn-to-Inn & Historic Tour presented by the Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Bed and Breakfast Innkeepers of Ocean City are every Thursday in July and August from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Tickets are $14 per person, which includes transportation by trolley and a guided tour. Catch the trolley at the Ticket Booth located at the 7th Street and Central Avenue parking lot (metered parking is available). Tickets are available at the Welcome Center on 9th Street and at the ticket booth. Each tour includes an excursion to three inns, the Historic Ocean City Lifesaving Station or the Ocean City Historical Museum, and a sightseeing tour of the City’s historic district.

OC Historical Museum Announces New Exhibit
Partnering with the Ocean City Fishing Club, the Museum will host an exhibit on the history of the OC Fishing Club, which is celebrating its one hundredth anniversary. This exhibit will highlight the founding of the club, its development and its role in Ocean City’s community, both in the past and today. The exhibit will display historic rods, reels, photographs and a selection of the club’s trophies, including the illustrious Ocean City Fishing Cup. Items from members of the Ocean Fishing Club have been placed on loan with the Museum to help round out the exhibit. The exhibit will open July 12 with a special reception at 7pm. Ocean City Weight Loss Contest Weigh In
The six participants in the Ocean City weight loss contest will have their final weigh-in noon Sunday, June 30 at the Ocean City Music Pier.
On Jan. 1, six Ocean City residents had their initial weigh-in for the friendly weight loss challenge, which began between Ocean City Councilmen Scott Ping and Tony Wilson.
