The Ocean City Ecumenical Council Community Food Cupboard will return to its first floor location at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church. After being temporarily located at the Ocean City Civic Center due to flooding on the first floor at St. Peter’s, the Food Cupboard is renewed, restored and ready to continue its 36 year tradition of serving the needy residents of Ocean City. Beginning JANUARY 2, 2013, the Ocean City Ecumenical Council Community Food Cupboard will be open Monday – Friday, Noon – 3:00PM at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, 8th Street and Central Avenue.

The Food Cupboard is managed and operated by volunteers from churches throughout Ocean City. As many as eighty families per day have been serviced during the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Food Certificates were also distributed for Thanksgiving and Christmas to more than 300 individuals and families. The Ocean City Ecumenical Council will continue its long tradition of service by providing food for needy families and seniors residing in Ocean City in the year ahead.  Many families that have been displaced after the storm will continue to need food upon their return to their homes. The Ecumenical Council will continue to be there for them as they have for more than three decades.

The outpouring of support both locally and nation-wide has been unprecedented. The Ocean City Ecumenical Council is most grateful and thanks all the volunteers and donors for their generosity, for their time and for their encouragement. Our mission is “to provide for the needy of our community”. Your generosity will help to continue that mission.
