The Ocean City businesses, their employees, residents and the community as whole have all worked very hard to rebuild after the storm. We are excited for a successful 2013 season and are still working hard to let the world know that "We Are Ready!" Please join us on Friday, May 24th for the events listed below.  Please encourage your neighbors, employees, friends and visitors to stand with us in celebrating Ocean City, NJ!

Ocean City will be Joining the State-Wide Shore Community's  "Stronger Than the Storm" Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies on Friday, May 24 as well as holding its Annual unique Business Person's Plunge to welcome the new season and emphasize that "We Are Ready!"

Following are a list of the activities:  

 

1. Ribbon Cutting on the Boardwalk 8:30 a.m. Friday by the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace. The ribbon will be stretched from 6th to 14th Sts. on boardwalk and cut by Mayor Jay Gillian. Merchants and the public are invited to participate. This event is in coordination with a ceremony hosted by Governor Christie who will be cutting a ribbon simultaneously in North Jersey. Other communities up and down the Jersey Shore will be holding similar events at the same time.                                                                                                                                   

2. Ribbon Cutting in the Downtown in front of City Hall, 9th and Asbury Ave., at 9:45 a.m. Friday. Mayor Jay Gillian will cut ribbon. This ceremony will congratulate and commemorate the downtown's quick recovery from the storm. Merchants and the public are invited to participate. The Chamber of Commerce will also commemorate the openings of ten new businesses in downtown Asbury Ave. during the day.  

3. Turning of key in sand to open Ocean City Beaches by City officials and annual Business Persons' Plunge, noon, at 9th St. Beach adjacent to the Music Pier. Over 100 participants dressed in business suits and toting brief cases plus many others in unusual costumes and attire will march into the ocean to the strains of "Pomp and Circumstance" to welcome the new season and report that "We Are Ready!, Yes! We Are Ready!"
