IN 1915 THE PHILLIES WON THEIR FIRST NATIONAL LEAGUE PENNANT

LEARN HOW SPRING TRAINING WAS FOR THAT 1915 TEAM

(HINT) IT WAS MUCH DIFFERENT THAN SPRING TRAINING TODAY

1915 Phillies

The Phillies Traveled to Spring Training in St. Petersburg, Florida by Boat?

Team Members Were Pursued by a Lynch Mob! Some Members Almost Drowned in a Storm! The Food was terrible! Manager Pat Moran was a Tyrant! Etc. Etc. Etc!

Enjoy stories about this bizarre and hilarious Phillies experience from Baseball Author and Phillies authority Bob Warrington. Bob has presented similar programs to the Society for American Baseball Research, the Philadelphia Athletics Historical Society and other sports organizations.

Bob will speak 1 p.m., February 21st. at the Christopher Maloney Auditorium in the Ocean City Library/Community Center Complex, 17th and Simpson Ave.

Admission is free!

Bob will bring a baseball bat used by Phillies 1915 First Baseman Fred Luderus. You will be able to take photos posing with that bat. There will be Phillies 1915 team memorabilia and also photos of that colorful squad that included Hall of Famer Grover Cleveland Alexander, (Old Pete) who won 30 games that year.

There will be a Phillies Trivia Contest with Prizes awarded by the Phillies and 2015 schedules will be available. Be there and learn how baseball was played 100 years ago!
