CHRISTMAS IN THE DOWNTOWN, also known as “Our Miracle on Asbury Avenue,” and an “Old Fashioned Family Christmas” is from 2 to 5 p.m. along the award winning Asbury Ave. shopping district on Friday, Nov. 28.

The event features the arrival of Santa Claus from the City Hall Roof at 5 p.m., a special appearance by the Phillie Phanatic from 4 to 6 p.m. in the staging area in front of City Hall, 9th and Asbury Ave., plus caroling and entertainment.

Santa will greet his fans and pose for photos at the Gazebo across from City Hall from 2 to 4 p.m., descend from City Hall Roof at 5 p.m., then return to the Gazebo from 5:15 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.

Michael Hartman of The Greater Ocean City Theatre Company will emcee and lead his performers and the audience in the singing of Christmas Carols from 4 to 5 p.m. in front of City Hall prior to Santa’s descent.


The program includes the Show Stoppers Carolers and String Band strolling from 6th to 9th St. from 2 to 4 p.m.; Nancy Fox, with her carolers and performers, strolling from 8th to 11th Sts. from 2 to 4 p.m.; Music by Keith Hickman at City Hall Steps, 9th and Asbury Ave., from 1:30 to 4 p.m.; Stilt Walker Dean Duncan entertaining from 6th to 11th Sts. on Asbury Ave. plus free Horse and Carriage Rides from 1p.m. to 4 p.m.

Asbury Avenue is colorfully decorated for the Holidays as are many of the City’s 100 specialty shops and restaurants. The special holiday celebration is sponsored by the Greater Ocean City Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Merchants Assn. of Ocean City.

(Dec. 12-14) 2014 HOLIDAY SPECTACULAR by the Greater Ocean City Theatre Co. A cast of professional singers and dancers present a high energy, family-oriented song and dance tribute to the holidays directed and choreographed by Michael Hartman.
