The Colorful Night In Venice Boat Parade starts 6 p.m. on Sat., July 20th. The route is from the Longport Bridge, along the Bay front, through lagoons to Tennessee Ave. Grandstands will be set up from Battersea Rd. to 16th St. and at Tennessee Ave. along the Bay front for free viewing. The Bayside Center, 520 Bay Ave., will also be open as a picnic and viewing area with entertainment. Gates open at 4 p.m. with entertainment starting at 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for children. Call (609) 525-9300.

Free Jitney service will run as in previous years from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. It will start at the Municipal Air Port, 25th and Bay Ave., proceed to the Aquatic and Fitness Center 18th and Simpson Ave. for pick ups and then run along the Bay Ave. to the Bayside Center. There will be free parking at the Airport and adjacent soccer field on Shelter Rd. off Tennessee Ave.


There will be a new SEE FOOD Weekend, Fri., July 19 to Sun. July 21 with restaurants and eateries throughout the City offering specials. Look for the SEE and ENJOY signs at participating restaurants. In light of the storm, we would like visitors to patronize all Ocean City Restaurants during the weekend. This event takes the place of the Asbury Ave. Festival.

Ocean City’s 4th Annual Tribute to the Philippines will be held at the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., July 20-21. In addition, a special HEALTH FAIR is set for the Senior Room of the Community Center, 17th and Simpson Ave. from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Music Pier Tribute will feature Filipino performers including dancers and instrumentalists, plus Yo Yo Demonstrations on Saturday only. Free Blood Pressure and Sugar Check ups will be offered on Saturday. The Tribute also offers an array of Filipino crafts, products, packaged foods and tourism displays. The event will be covered by GMA Pinoy TV, the largest TV Network in the Philippines and a major sponsor of the Festival. The network will be sending stories from Ocean City during the weekend to its stations in the U.S.A. and the Philippines.

On Sun., July 21, (as mentioned above) Philippine doctors, nurses and dieticians will present a free Health Fair at the Community Center Senior Room from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., that will feature an array of services including Shoulder and Back Massage, Body Mass Index, Lung Capacity, Blood Pressure, Glucose and Cholesterol Testing plus healthy life style and nutritional alternatives.

(July 20) Annual T. John Carey Master’s Swim—Registration 8 a.m. at the 34th St. Beach Patrol Station, 34th and Beach. Race starts at 10 a.m.

(July 21) Ocean City Nor’easters v Baltimore Bohemians, 7 p.m. kick-off, Carey Stadium, 6th St. off Boardwalk, $10 adults, $7 Youth (under 16). Watch the Nor’easter’s U23 team play Kirkwood at 4 p.m. For more information, call (609) 525-9999.

(July 21) Ocean City Pops presents “Fly Me to the Moon” celebrating the music of Frank Sinatra, 8 p.m. at the Music Pier. (July 22) Hot Tuna, 7:30 p.m. at Music Pier. An America blues rock band, Hot Tuna plays acoustic and electric versions of original and traditional blues songs. Hot Tuna’s latest album “Steady as She Goes” was released in April 2011. Hot Tuna was formed during a hiatus in Jefferson Airplane’s touring schedule during 1969. (July 25) Ocean City Fishing Club Open House, 6 to 8 p.m. The Ocean City Fishing Club continues its year long celebration of the Pier’s 100th Anniversary by inviting visitors to tour its Pier and Club House at 14th St. and Boardwalk.
